RAMS ALL-TIME RUSHING LEADER
In his 12-year career in the National Football League, Steven Jackson came to represent everything you would want in a running back, a teammate and a leader. As one of the last great every down running backs, Steven was fearless and relentless, the kind of player who grows stronger and more punishing over a game the more carries he is given. During his days in St. Louis, playing on teams that routinely finished at the bottom of the standings, he was indefatigable, racking up eight consecutive seasons with at least 1,000-yards rushing—a feat equalled only by Hall of Famers Barry Sanders, Thurman Thomas, Curtis Martin and Emmitt Smith, and LaDainian Tomlinson. St. Louis Dispatch columnist Bernie Miklasz said it best when he spoke about Steven, and how he conducted himself during one of the Rams’ worst three-year stretches:

“How many guys play for a team that’s 6-42, and over those three years, you never hear one word of complaint? You never hear one word that would convey, ‘Oh, woe is me. I deserve better. I want out of here.’ Not once did he ever go there. He’s come from a guy who people weren’t sure what he was or what he represented to really a tower of strength. He’s viewed as a great leader, and a guy that paid the price to try to get this football program to better days.”
