Rams training camp has ramped up over the last week, with the first preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings coming up on Sunday, and it has Steven Jackson overflowing with excitement.

"I’m really happy with the way things are going," S-Jax told Gridiron Gateway. "I feel like right now we’re definitely a better ‘screen team.’ The continuity of the offensive line is starting to come together. I know we’re missing (left guard) Jacob Bell right now, but allowing some of the younger guys to get reps and fill in, I feel right now as an offensive unit we’re starting to create a lot of depth at a lot of different positions because we’re asking younger guys or some of the free agents to step in right away."

The ability to screen will be crucial to St. Louis’s success with Steven coming out of the backfield in the passing game. He had 51 catches for 322 yards last season.

No. 39 continues to lock in on a successful season for not only himself, but his teammates. Tthrough one week of camp, he’s happy to say they look like they can get there.

"Individual success is something that I’m not focused on," Jackson said. "It just keeps me having job security. I think that’s how I look at it. I’m really focused on turning this franchise around and getting back to those winning ways and hopefully I’m a main part of that."
