This Saturday, Steven Jackson is going to help grant the holiday wishes of a few thousand area boys and girls.
Some 3,600 local foster children will gather with Steven and the St. Louis Rams at the Edward Jones Dome for the 2010 Motion for Kids Holiday Party.
Hosted by Steven in conjunction with the SJ39 Foundation and 39 Wishes, the event is a holiday partnership between the St. Louis Rams and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis.
Originally named Project Angel Tree, the Motion for Kids Holiday Party was started by the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis in 1992 to benefit area children who had a parent in the Missouri prison system. Since the project’s inception, it has grown steadily and now includes children in the foster care system, as well as some children with parents currently serving our country overseas.
In addition to hosting the Motion for Kids Holiday Party, Steven is adopting 39 local families from those with the most need to ensure a happy holiday season as part of SJ39 Foundation’s 39 Wishes program.
The SJ39 Foundation, Steven's personal community service organization, is dedicated to promoting strong educational values among today’s youth. Initiatives have included donating $1,000 to the Foundation for every touchdown he scored in 2006, and hosting a three-day charity event to benefit and the Easter Seals of Southern Nevada.
Steven and the Foundation continue to contribute actively to a number of causes, including the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and the NFL's childhood health program, NFL Play 60.
