The NFL draft is fast approaching and with the first pick in the draft, one thing is for certain, the St. Louis Rams will not be selecting a running back.

Steven Jackson has the Rams backfield on lock, but St. Louis has plenty of other holes that need filling. With that in mind, Steven weighed in on his team's draft prospects this weekend, while taking part in ESPN's annual ESPN The Weekend celebration at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.

"If we don't feel someone is hands-down the number-one pick, I think we should trade down, try to get an extra second-rounder, an extra second- or third-round pick, 'cause we have so many things that we can use as an organization," Steven Jackson said Friday on ESPN "First Take" from Orlando, Fla.

Rams officials have been working diligently at this week's NFL Scouting Combine to try and decipher which of this year's draft eligible players fits them best in the No. 1 slot. Scouts opinions have varied between Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford, Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and Oklahoma defensive tackle Gerald McCoy.

Each player possess talents that have wowed scouts and S-Jax noted that he likes the way the Rams are currently keeping their options wide open, as he told ESPN:

"We have to wait on the combine to see how the guys pan out," Jackson said. "But I'm definitely a fan of Ndamukong Suh. I hear he's a great person, his family is unbelievable, and he's definitely an impact player."

Rams GM Billy Devaney said this week that the Rams are searching for players like Steven to help lead the Rams in the right direction for the future.

"We need more players like Steven Jackson, we can't be moving him out of the building," Devaney said. "When you're 1-15, there's a lot of different directions you can go. There's pros and cons whatever way you decide to go."

The NFL Draft commences April 22-April 24. The Rams are on the clock.

WELL-DESERVED R&R
After rushing for 1,416 yards this season on his way to the NFC Rushing Title and his second Pro Bowl, No. 39 has been taking a break from football to get healthy for the 2010 season.

Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo told The St. Louis Globe-Democrat that he spoke to Steven last week and No. 39 has already met with new Rams trainer Reggie Scott:

"He seems to be doing fine," Spagnuolo said. "I mean backs, you know how they are. But he's been fine. I don't even put him in the rehab category because it's really just a rest (thing). He's been resting (his back). He told me he's doing fine."
