The superstar running back of the St. Louis Rams is doing more than ever to prepare for the coming NFL season.

As reported this past week, SJax has been working on improving his strength and listening closely to the Rams’ running backs coach. Bill Coats of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch writes:

Because of new strength coach Rock Gullickson, Steven Jackson reports that he’s "definitely stronger now." Because of new running backs coach Sylvester Croom, Jackson says he’s "actually understanding the details on (running a pass) route."

Which all figures into Jackson’s ultimate goal.

"I’m working on being a complete running back," he said. "I’ve said that in the past, but this year I’m really getting detailed coaching."

In particular, No. 39 spoke highly of Croom’s instruction.

Solid preparation, though, is no accident. That’s where Croom’s influence is making a difference, Jackson said.

"He’s really big on making sure you understand; he’s a teacher," he said. "Some things that you feel like you know, he double-checks you. He’s a guy that come September … I’m going to be coached up enough that I’m going to know my responsibilities, I’m going to know my assignments so I’m able to play fast."

NEW VIDEO
One of Steven’s most dedicated fans, Korey Alexander, has put together a new tribute video for SJax entitled, "SJ39: The Predator," a reference to the movie about the killer, dreadlocked alien of the same name.

TWITTER EXPERT
As an increasing number of NFL fans will discover in the season-to-come, Steven has become one of the most prolific and interesting professional athletes on Twitter.

Recently, the Associated Press took notice. In a piece entitled, "Twitter working for Rams running back," R.B. Fallstrom wrote:

Twitter works for St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson, who opened an account to avoid the problem that Cardinals manager Tony La Russa has encountered.

Jackson tweets often with his fans from his address sj39.com/twitter, sometimes posting his thoughts multiple times in a day. He began using this method of communication after impostors used his name on MySpace and Facebook.

"I wanted to kind of nip that in the bud early," Jackson said.

Steven went on to explain why he enjoys using Twitter so much:

"Having a presence online and allowing my fans to talk to me, I think it’s cool," Jackson said. "I give them some things on the field because I am a football player and they want to know about me, but I also allow them to know I have other interests outside of football."
